During the period of June 29th-July 11th, on invitations from Hungarian "End of Century Foundation" (Szazadveg) and Luxembourg Institute for European and International Studies, a SIES delegation of three members paid a visit to Europe. The members of this delegation included Prof. Xu Mingqi, Mr. Cao Ziheng, and Dr. Yang Haifeng, who are president, secretary-general, and deputy secretary-general of SIES. In Hungary, Prof. Xu Mingqi was invited to make a speech on China's current economic situation in the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (HIIA). During this visit, SIES delegation also made exchanges and discussions with HIIA president Zakonyi Botond, Szazadveg Chairman Andras Lanczi, senior analyst Orsolya Pacsay Tomassich, economist Gyorgy Barcza, foreign affairs officer David Jozsef, and international affairs commissioner Orsolya Kovacs. Furthermore, they also contacted several diplomats and officials, such as Roman Kowalski, the Hungarian ambassador to Poland, Pal Peter Schmitt, who is the foreign affairs director of Hungarian premier's office and will soon take the office of Hungarian Consul General in Shanghai, Gyorgy Kerekes, deputy chief of Hungarian Bureau for Investment and Trade, Eszter Varga, director of Intellectual Industry and Service Section of that bureau, and Thorsten Benner and Joel Sandhu, who are project managers from Global Public Policy Institute of Germany.
